Coordinated Action on Localising SDG16+

The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) will hold its Annual Meeting this week from 5 December to 7 December in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting will bring together the Platform's southern and northern membership to discuss its strategy for the future, including ways to embark on coordinated action in Localising SDG16+.

The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) is the official forum for coordinated civil society participation in the International Dialogue for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS), a forum that brings countries affected by conflict and fragility, development partners and civil society together for political dialogue on conflict prevention and support efforts towards more peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

In the CSPPS Annual Meeting the Platform's membership will reflect on the implementation of the priority themes within the IDPS’ Peace Vision for 2019 – 2021. The meeting will also provide space for members to discuss and agree on the work plan for the Platform in this context. Important building blocks in this context will be the Platform's work done in support of localising SDG16+ and ensuring the continuous and meaningful inclusion of civil society in dialogues around conflict prevention and sustaining peace in fragile and conflict-affected settings. The increasing trend of civic space restrictions will be a key element featured in the discussions.

Outreach to the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia and with the Citizens & Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union.

The CSPPS annual Core Group meeting aims to strengthen working relationships across all platform members around the IDPS partnership and related policy processes and will focus on reviewing and solidifying current workplan priorities.

The CSPPS delegation to Addis will be able to have a formal introduction exchange with the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia and with the Citizens & Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union.

This would be a formidable opportunity for CSPPS delegates to learn more about their work on peacebuilding, conflict prevention and sustaining peace, to explain the main achievements of our Platform in 2019, to have an in-depth discussion about civil society’s role and contribution to conflict and crises prevention, and to explore together potential opportunities to collaborate on localising the SDG Agenda and amplifying the role of civil society in implementing the AU's Agenda 2063.

Stay Tuned

At the end of the meeting, we hope to reach consensus on key priorities while we reaffirm our commitment to support and contribute to key agendas through collaboration at national and international levels. Follow the meeting discussions using below social media channels and hashtags:
