A Burundian focus on Women, Peace and Security

In 2019, Fontaine ISOKO organized a number of strategic events and workshops aiming to reinvigorate its working group working on the New Deal and Women, Peace and Security. This project involved a total of 138 participants and included an orientation retreat for the project team and New deal steering committee, the organization of a CSO Think Tank on New Deal and Women, Peace and Security issues, the organization of a national workshop on SDGs, New Deal principles, data collection and the organization of a panel on the New Deal and the SDGs to present the achievements of the Burundian Platform and to recall the linkages between global programmes, and highlight the links between the National Development Plan, the SDGs and the New Deal framework. This project was an excellent opportunity to involve members from government and civil society actors, strengthening knowledge and awareness on the New Deal and sensitizing the media.

The government representatives made a commitment to popularize and follow-up on the SDGs, and the data collected showed that more organizations are now resuming a good pace of work, while the ones no longer in operation will be replaced by the steering committee.
