Coordinating
CSPPS focuses on coordinating efforts to strengthen and amplify CSPPS Country Teams and internal cohesion across regional and thematic networks, facilitating exchanges among members, and creating spaces for joint reflection, peer learning, and collaboration. This included expanding our membership to new countries, representing civil society voices in international arenas, reinforcing Country Team engagements, supporting member-led initiatives, and fostering partnerships that enhance civil society's collective capacity to respond to emerging challenges. Addressing the root causes of social and political unrest, crises, and conflict in deeply divided societies or war-torn contexts is a multifaceted issue. At CSPPS, we seek for a whole-of-society approach: a comprehensive strategy that takes into account local agency and dynamics and includes often marginalised and excluded stakeholders, such as civil society. By working collectively, civil society organisations (CSOs) that share a similar mandate around peacebuilding and conflict prevention issues have a greater chance of making their voices heard and shifting the narratives for a more sustainable, peaceful and just world.
International Dialogue for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding
CSPPS represents the civil society arm within the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS), a global platform that brings together fragile and conflict-affected countries (g7+), development partners (INCAF), and civil society (CSPPS). Through this space, CSPPS ensures that civil society voices are included in high-level policy discussions on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, and connects its members’ experiences to global decision-making processes. Hosted by the UN Development Programme, the IDPS remains a central pillar of CSPPS’s work and a key entry point for influencing global policy discussions. Through this platform, CSPPS ensures that civil society perspectives are integrated into international debates on peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
Cross-learning Exchanges amongst the membership
The CSPPS Membership is at the core of CSPPS’s mandate and raison d’etre. CSPPS hosts Country Teams, coordinated at the country level by a Focal Point Organisation (FPO), and individual members. The FPO provides analysis, conducts advocacy work, coordinates activities (capacity strengthening, awareness raising, and media outreach) in their home countries, and helps civil society actors participate in meetings convened by governmental and donor stakeholders. The Core Group is the main internal coordination space of the Platform. It brings together countries’ focal points, deputies, and individual members to exchange experiences, discuss priorities, and shape our collective work. Through regular engagement, the Core Group strengthens connections across the network and helps align local realities with global advocacy efforts.
CSO-UN Dialogue
Since 2026, CSPPS has been representing Europe as part of the UN-CSO Dialogue Core Group. In this engagement, it sets out to support and decide on processes and priorities of the UN-CSO Dialogue along with its other Core Group Members. CSPPS has been actively engaging in the UN-CSO Dialogues since its inception in 2023, in which several of its members have participated in its events.
