How Young People in Liberia Contribute to a Sustainable and Peaceful Society

CSPPS is thrilled to share that Gwendolyn Myers, Founder and Executive Director of Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. (MOP), has been appointed as Global Chair for Youth Empowerment for the High-powered G100 of an eminent and empowered club of top 100 women leaders in the world with a vision for the future. MOP is part of the CSPPS Country Team in Liberia.

Gwendolyn represents a critical voice in youth and peace advocacy, and CSPPS is delighted to continue our partnership. With her organisation, she mobilises all groups of young people to contribute to a sustainable and peaceful society. With the process of recovery from a 14-year long civil war underway in the country, Gwendolyn believes young people have much to contribute, but still need to realise their potential. Through advocacy and outreach programmes, Messengers of Peace involves youth from all communities in the peace process. In this context, Gwendolyn also spoke with the CSPPS Secretariat in the latest episode of the Peace Corner Podcast, which is now live !

How young people in Liberia contribute to a sustainable and peaceful society

Five years after the historic adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS), where are we on the implementation of the agenda? In this podcast, Gwendolyn discusses the Liberian youth-led initiatives and the work of Messengers of Peace-Liberia to generate conducive environments for youth inclusion at the local level, and the challenges they have been facing.

CSPPS continues its collaboration with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) to bring you stories of peacebuilders from around the globe. You can find all Peace Corner Podcasts episodes on Apple PodcastsSpotify or Soundcloud.
